APOLLO EXPLORES SALE OF ATLAS AIR FOR OVER $12B
Apollo Global Management [APOS +%0,04] is exploring a potential sale of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, the cargo airline it acquired in March 2023 for $5.2 billion, in a deal that could value the company at more than $12 billion including debt, according to people familiar with the matter.
The US investment firm is in early stages of considering the divestment, with other industry players and private equity firms showing preliminary interest in acquiring the closely held carrier that operates the world’s largest fleet of Boeing 747 freighters.
The potential exit comes as Apollo has been actively monetizing portfolio companies in 2025, having sold approximately $2.4 billion of equity across multiple deals this year, and would represent more than double the original acquisition cost in less than three years of ownership.
